About Us

Welcome to the Chapel in Drake

The Chapel in Drake is a local church serving the Big Thompson Canyon, including Drake, Glen Haven, and Storm Mountain.

In a place known for independence and resilience, we aim to be a steady and welcoming presence. We are a non-denominational church rooted in Scripture and centered on Christ. Our focus is simple: to gather together, grow in faith, and build meaningful relationships.

We currently meet in a local community building (the BTCA) while working toward a permanent home for the church. Our goal is to establish a dedicated place for worship and connection that serves the canyon for decades to come.

The Chapel exists to bring the presence of Christ into this community and to provide a place where people can come as they are, learn, and walk through life together.

Our Leadership

David Orrison

Pastor

I’m David Orrison, pastor of the Chapel. What can I tell you about myself? For almost 50 years, I have been a pastor and teacher. I started in the United Presbyterian Church, escaped to the Evangelical Free Church, and now joyfully serve a non-denominational congregation. (Guess which I like more.) I received a PhD in Theology several years ago because I believe the deepest things of the faith are worth studying and communicating as simple and profound truth.

The message of grace grew in me over the years as I realized that all the expectations and work were accomplished by Jesus on my behalf. The more I accepted the love of God, the more victory and joy and peace I found in daily life. If you look up my name on Amazon, you’ll find several books I’ve written that bring the message of grace to some of the challenges of life.

My wife, Alice, has walked with me for over 50 years, and our eight sons and five grandkids bring so much joy to both of us. We live in Loveland, spend the summers in Minnesota, and truly love the people of the Chapel.

During the summer, I deeply appreciate the ministry of Jim and Jeanne Lynch who care for the Chapel family. Jim is a retired Nazarene pastor. He and Jeanne are full of love for Jesus and for others.
